The Pattern Dictionary was created as a way of helping my daughters recognize words that are identical or very similar across Romance languages. This experiment explores whether identifying linguistic patterns can make language learning feel more intuitive, connected, and less intimidating.
The project focuses on similarities between languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese, while also connecting many words back to their Latin roots to create a broader understanding of how these languages evolved.
The long-term evolution of the experiment is focused on adding voice support so learners can hear how each word sounds across the different languages, combining visual pattern recognition with pronunciation and listening-based learning.
